HE LOOKS A LITTLE FLAT
By Scamper

Scamper here, when my people told me Puglet had arrived, I grabbed the bully stick I had been saving for him, and ran right over.

I was a little surprised to see he was, well kinda flat. I know I couldn’t fit in there. We had a good time hanging out. Flat Puglet told me about his travels and all the pugs he’d met.

When the weekend came, we all piled into the car with my people… and headed out to get haircuts.

The hairdresser there really likes pugs, and let’s us come in and gives us treats. She said Flat Puglet’s hair looked a little flat. He said that it was supposed to be that way.

After we were looking our best, we went to our monthly pug meetup. I wanted to introduce Flat Puglet to all my friends. It had been nice and warm here yesterday – like 60 degrees. This morning though it started to snow again. We have our meetup at a place that helps recycle dogs, and Flat Puglet got pretty excited. I don’t even think he minded the snow.

Some of the meetup pugs were recycled right here at ADOPT! Others came from all over the place. Flat Puglet raced right in – stopping only to admire the cool fire hydrant in the front.

Once we were there, we all ran around and played for a long time. Lots of my friends had heard about FP and his travels, and thought meeting him was really cool, and wanted to help with his mission.

Flat Puglet wasn’t at all shy about joining the group. He jumped right in and played with all the round pugs. We were all pretty tired after a while. All that running around is hard work! Especially if you’re flat.

Flat Puglet went home with Scamper’s friend Kiya, and will continue to spread the word in Illinois.

P.S. FP – I still have your bully stick

MORE FUN, MORE SUN!
By Trunks

Flatpuglet arrived from Chicago and boy was he ready to have some fun in the sun!!

The first thing Flat Puglet did was check out all the toys that I have in the toy basket! I sat with him while he checked out my stuff. He said he was very impressed with my collection.

The next thing I did was give Flatpuglet a sniff and once over to make sure he was “OK!”. He smelled a little funny to me – maybe from all the snow in Chicago? – but passed the sniff test.

While all this was going on my human called my friend Olive’s human (her name is Nicole) to come over. Olive is a recycled pug!!

Olive was used for breeding — until the police raided the puppy mill and found her and her cage mate Rosie stuffed in a really small crate. Olive had been attached by another dog and had cuts and stuff all over her body. Rosie had a bunch a tumors all over her body and they hurt her really bad.

But the awesome people of CPR (Compassionate Pug Rescue) here in south Florida came to the rescue and fixed them both up good as new!! When Flat Puglet heard about what happened to Olive and Rosie, he was very sad.

He promised to work extra hard on his mission to help dogs in need.

When our pug social hour was over, my human took Flat Puglet to beach to see the Atlantic Ocean!!

Puglet really enjoyed the view and the people were so nice when they were asking what my human was doing with a laminated Pug! lol She did a wonderful job of educating people about rescues since she is the one that helped Olive’s mommy find her at a CPR event a year ago.

Puglet went to the college where my human teaches but my human forgot the camera to take a picture with her class but they were all very interested in hearing about him.

So overall Flat Puglet had an amazing time in South Florida!

Flat Puglet’s next spot is Pembroke, New Hampshire to visit Maddie and Cooper who are PUGGLES!! You can follow his adventures as they unfold by typing #21 in the Search box on the main page.

TWO LITTLE PUGGIES & A GATOR??
By Mary

Flat Puglet arrived in sunny Florida on a perfect day. After attending a boat show, he went boating on Lake Fairview.

He also had the opportunity to attend a large rescue event put on by Seminole Co Animal Services, where there was just about every breed rescue imaginable! He eve had his picture taken with the Easter Bunny!

After a long journey and a full day, it was time to rest with all the pugs, including my Rascal and Lucille and foster pug Pete!

When Flat Puglet was feeling refreshed, we visited a rescue called Critter Encounters, a local non-profit with a mission to provide safe permanent homes for unwanted abandoned and abused wildlife and exotic “pets”.

Flat Puglet enjoyed meeting a nice recycled alligator. He was surprised to learn that it’s not just cats and dogs that need homes. Alligators need loving homes too!

Next it was off to Disney’s Epcot Center, followed by the Magic Kingdom!

Flat Pulget met Marie in France, took in the scenery of Japan, and cuddled up with a Viking in Norway. We couldn’t leave without a picture in Mexico with a sombrero, shot glass and the Mexican flag!

After the Epcot center it was on to the Magic Kingdom. Mickey Mouse remembered meeting Flat Puglet once before. And Pluto even opened his house and shared a bone with him!

Flat Puglet didn’t think rescue could get any better than a real live ‘gator… until he got to go to St Augustine on an actual rescue mission! He got to see first-paw how a recycled dog in need gets saved by a rescue.

A pair of surrendered 8 week old girl pugs will be with Central Florida Pug Rescue until they are ok’d for surgery for diaphragmic hernias. We do not know all that is wrong with them, but they will be given every chance in the world.

Flat Puglet has completed his journey to Apopka and the central Florida area, and is now on his way to Milton, Ontario, Canada!!!

LITTLE PUG, BIG APPLE
By Yumee

I was so excited to see that Flat Puglet had arrived. He was tired but excited for an adventure. I had plans to meet friends for brunch in Manhattan and decided that Flat Puglet could do with some food.

He looked a bit groggy from his long journey, so we got him a grande coffee while we waited for the train.

On the train he sat in the seat in front of us and turned around to tell us all about his family in San Fran.

At the restaurant as you and every pug owner can imagine Flat Puglet was very excited by the sight and smell of the food passing by. Oh the dilemma of choosing… What to eat, what to eat?

Ohhhhh crunchy, crispy, delicious pain perdu? Flat Puglet picked up some French during his trip to Montreal and explained to me that pain perdu is French toast. Leave it to a pug to know!

Flat Puglet and I were both drooling. Yummmm.

Another thing Flat Puglet and I have in common… an eagle eye when it comes to spotting cotton candy. Flat Puglet here giving me the stink eye, warning me away from his treasure.

Having stuffed ourselves silly with food (yes I am a pug at heart) we took a walk through Central Park. And as everyone knows when you take a picture of an Asian, they cannot help but do the “asian pose”. Flat Puglet did not look amused.

And the Oscar for best pug performance goes to… Flat Puglet!!! Shhhh just don’t tell Flat Puglet the Oscar was a fake one. An exciting day was had with Flat Puglet, filled with food, food, food and an award. Life is good :-D

Flat Puglet will continue his world tour on the other side of the Atlantic. He’s traveling to London England to attend a real wedding in a real castle!

Gladstone, OR

Gladstone, OR

IT’S A BOY!
By Sandra, Kizzy & Phoebe

My very first stop was in Gladstone, Oregon. My host family and my host pugs, Phoebe and Kizzy had been waiting for me and all of them gathered around when I jumped out of the envelope. Right away, after they oooooed and aaaaawed over my cuteness, they started taking pictures and planning “field trips”.

I went to Oregon City, which is the End of the Oregon Trail. I got to see the John McLoughlin House (one of the founders of Oregon City) and sit on a cannon. I got to see the End of the Oregon Trail Museum and Willamette Falls and the famous Oregon City Elevator. I went lots of other places too, but there isn’t room to tell about all of them.

I rode in the hoody so the wind wouldn’t get me and sail me off into the Willamette Falls. Those buildings are the Blue Heron Paper Mill.

That is the famous Oregon City Elevator in the background. I went to the top and rode in the elevator and the view was wonderful. All along the walls were holograms that moved as we walked through and told the story of historic Oregon City.

I went to church and got my picture taken on the drums before the music started and later we all went out to dinner at the Red Lobster. Every where we went my host family, ALL OF THEM, told everyone about me and my mission to let people know about recycled dogs and rescue groups.

We got to hear lots of heartwarming stories about people’s dogs and how they got them from many different situations. People were all so positive about me and my mission.

They were all so willing to let my hosts take lots of pictures of me where ever I went.

OK, now the important part. My host family was expecting a baby. It was going to be my host mom’s first great grandchild. I knew I should visit for a short while and be on my way, but my hosts wanted me to stay for the big day and I REALLY wanted to be a part of it too.

At the McLoughlin House I got to sit on the mommy’s tummy and feel the baby move and listen for the heartbeat. Thump thump, thump thump.

I checked out the baby’s crib to make sure it was one of the safe ones and that it was comfortable. I visited with all the stuffed animals and heard the stories they plan to tell the little guy.

I took a little sniff and taste of the baby shower cake. It looked kind of plain, but they explained that all the guests would sign the cake with frosting.

I was getting really nervous about wearing out my welcome, but then I overheard my host mom say that she was really going to miss me when I was on my way to my next stop.

One day things got really exciting and we all piled in the car and drove to the hospital. They said the baby was on it’s way home.

I checked out the equipment to make sure it was working properly. I tested the tiny little bed they got ready for the baby. It was much smaller than the crib at their house and didn’t have any furry friends in it to keep him company.

At one point I kind of got lost in all the stuff we took to the hospital with us. I was afraid they would forget about me. No problem. They chased everyone out of the room except for the mama, daddy, auntie and grandma (my host mom) and me.

The next thing I know there is a lot of crying and laughing and clapping and hugging and people came back in the room and started taking pictures again. I was really hoping for a puppy, but there was this tiny, sweet little boy. I got to see him and smell him when he was brand new and soft and pink. See him holding his auntie’s finger. Everybody, meet Chance Wayne!

He is 7 lbs 13 ozs., born at 9:11 PM on March 12, 2010 and I GOT TO BE THERE!!!!!

I felt a little bad, because my host pugs, Phoebe and Kizzy didn’t get to be there, but they got really excited when we brought Chance home for the first time. I told them all about it and they thanked me, because no one else would have given them all the details I did.

I loved being part of their family for a while.
